Comments: Happened on this web sight while surfing. I started to French Elementary in 1945, I think it was on Tulane. I moved away in 1947 and finished high school in East Texas. I returned to Beaumont when I graduated bought a car and did the things kids did in the 50's met my wife at the 11th Street Pig Stand and for the most part I've lived in Orange since. Stange how when you get older memories come back more clearly. I remember a few of the kids names and ran into one at Sam Houston who had moved away about the same time I did. I lived at 3115 Voth Road and Charlotte Davis lived across the street.

Comments: I am a retired Territory Manager for a major pharmaceutical company. My memories of FHS are of a much simpler time than kids have today. Friends who were loyal, teachers who cared about us and a principal who cared but didn't put up with any smart mouths. In reality, I guess it wasn't so much simpler. There were some problem kids, some drinking, some crossing the border to dance and drink . . . seems tame doesn't it. What wonderful memories!

Comments: I started out with the DPS, then spent several years as a private investigator. In 1965 I married a wonderful girl from Wichita Falls. We had two children, Kathy (deceased) and Kurt who is a stock broker with Soloman Smith Barney. We have 2 beautiful grand-children. Helen and I retired in 1992 from the University of Alaska after 25 years in Fairbanks. I was a professor of criminology and criminal law and Helen was the director of publications for the Institute of Marine Science. We had a very rewarding life in the north country which included homesteading and owning and operating a sport fishing lodge. The latter provided me with my second love, that of flying floatplanes in the Alaskan bush. Following retirement we returned to the "lower 48" and after a year of traveling around in a motorhome, we settled in Lumberton. Helen and I attended my first (40th) reunion in 1997 and really enjoyed visiting with so many friends and classmates of so long ago. It brough! t back many fond memories of high school days. I think this opportunity to learn about former students of French is an excellent idea and I hope the list continues to grow.

Comments: I think this is totally awesome. Not only did I graduate from French, but so did my older brother, Malcolm (1956) my sister-in-law, Myrtle Parker Lee (1957) and my mother, Laura Winton Lee (1935). My oldest daughter, Kimber Lee Jones Knight, went to French her first year of high school (1974). My childrens' father, Wesley Ernest Jones (Class of '54), as well as all of his brothers and sisters, went to French. I was in the first "herd" of Buffalo Belles. We may not have been the greatest, but we certainly did have a lot of fun. Thank you for this web site. You have done a tremendous job.

Comments: Neat. Get everybody on-line. I always wonder what ever happened to all the good French High friends I had.
(March '08} One evening an old Pawnee Indian told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith." The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?" The old Pawnee simply replied, "The one you feed."
