Thanks to Mary Ann Hereford (Duren) for her hard work in putting together another reunion. My earliest memories of Mary Ann in high school place her in that same position of working and organizing at the time many of us "kiddos" actively shunned any responsible position.
After French and Lamar I left for the military and seldom even got close to Beaumont. Fortunately I kept in sporadic touch with one classmate and got word of this event. It was fun getting back in touch with old friends and even those the mind let slip away over the years. I noticed many puzzled looks when they stared at the "Jimmy Burnett" name tag.
I've retired from the Air Force and AT&T and Stephanie (my wife of 41 years) and I now make a career of our 5 grand kids.

(update)I haven't looked at this site in several years. There are so many who have never showed up. One of my old friends, Rannie Huckabee, has never been heard from.
This site is a credit to the maker. While I haven't had a lot of time for reunions over the years, there are always folks I wonder what happened to them. Thanks to Ray Whitaker I found your site. I heard Delmas Hybarger died. I knew him well. I would welcome emails if there are those who would care to write.

This is really a great sight. Congratulations on your insights and your ability to pull this thing together.
I graduated in'58 and Mrs. Halbouty(Hyak)was my most memorable teacher. I won't say she was my favorite,But she did force me to learn whether I wanted to or not. Over the years I have been in a number college clubs and other organizations, but I have only memories of the good and simple times of French High School. It might only be that the times were simpler and we didn't have all the responsibilities that we have now.Thanks again and I hope this thing just keeps getting bigger. Lawrence Morgan

My family moved to Norman, Oklahoma the summer prior to my Senior Year. After 42 years, I am attempting to make contact with old friends, most of whom also graduated with me from James Bowie Jr. High and traveled on with me through French High. It has always seemed like "unfinished business," not being allowed to graduate with my friends in 1959. I adored the teacher, Zulma Smith.

Mrs. Halbouty taught English in 1956/1957
and her preparations really helped me in my college English classes. I passed them all with good grades thanks to her.
That same year I especially enjoyed the History class taught by Coach Lindsey who frequently had girls doing push ups for talking too much in class.
Mr. Hybarger was the principal at the time and knew everone in the school.

French High School was very important to me because I make some of the greatest friends during my three years there. We still vist each other and have a strong bond of friendship which has lasted for more than forty years. During the time I was in school at French we had the best teachers and the most wonderful principal, Mr.D.L.Hybarger. Those were the good old days.

the past five years. Don't get to Beaumont area much since we no longer have close family there. Would love to hear from 58, 59, or 60 FHS grads who live in the Metroplex.I remeber the trip to Austin for the state basketball tournament baseball seasson of '58 good friends Jim Burnett, who my wife and I see as often as possible, and good times.
