Does anyone have an extra copy of the 64 annual that I can purchase?
Living in Houston, TX temporarily. My home was in New Orleans until Katrina. I have lived Everywhere. I've traveled to India, Spain and South Africa teaching workshops and have had my work presented to the World Parliament of Religions twice. I'm an active member of the Gay/Lesbian Journalists Association and The Human Rights Campaign. I had a great life-partner for many years who is now deceased. Now it's just me and a great solid black German Shepherd puppy named Sam. In June I will be retiring to Mexico and will officially be an ex-pat. Thanks for the memories. Wish more of the group were listed. Overall....life has been good....ds

In Houston last spring for a conference, I just had to drive over to Beaumont. Walking around old FHS on a Saturday (maintenance guy let me in) was a really eerie experience - little has changed since we were there (the hallways, lockers, classrooms). Jogged down the football practice field; lots of fire ant mounds - don't remember them. It was my first time back since June 1964 when I got off the bus from Monterrey (foreign language group trip) and drove off to Mobile, AL. Last contact was a visit by Mike McCroskey and Burt Gray to Mobile in 1965. Really enjoyed seeing the website, comments by classmates, etc. Love and best wishes to all!

I spent 20 years as a research scientist at the Pharmacia Corp. in Kalamazoo MI. We were bought out by Pfizer last year and research jobs eliminated. I migrated to Jacksonville FL and was fortunate to find a position in research at the Mayo Clinic. Concidentally, I had been corresponding with Donald Golden, valeditorian of the class of 64 and one of my boyhood friends. He and his wife Kathy, after similar corporate takeovers decided to chuck the typical middle class and rather serve on the Caribbean Mercy ship. The Ship docked here in Jacksonville last fall, and I was able to have lunch with them on the ship. He informed me that another of our friends, Patrick White (Sullivan, died of a heart attack last fall. Patrick was saluditorian of the class of 64 and a wonderful human being.

(updated: Jan. 2, 2004)I'm married and have one daughter, who just began college this past Fall. I work as a Speech Pathologist in the public schools in the Raleigh area. Just wanted to say that this is a great site...it's obvious that you've put a lot of work and heart and soul into it. I have very fond memories of my years at FHS and looking at the notes here and pictures, etc. brings it all back. Thank you...

I thought I submitted comments on this site several months ago, but I've not located the entry anywhere. Perhaps it wasn't actually sent
or received for some reason. Such a computer expert I am!
I learned about the site from a friend, Ron Whitaker. Thanks for setting up this site, Maribeth! If there is going to be a reunion
in 2004 for the Class of 1964, I'd like to receive some information on it, please. My friend, Gail Hubbard Vance, and I are interested. Thanks! :>)

I've gotten a Masters of Divinity an=m an ordained Clergyperson in the Evangeical Lutehran Church. I also have a Masters in Counseling and a small private practice. I worked for ten years with sex offenders, and now work with domestic violence offenders. I spent 4 1/2 years in Japan---many years ago teaching English as a second language. Mrs. Halbouty's training helped a lot! My wife is Japanese, we have two sons. One is in Australia getting his MBA, the other is a junior in college. Thanks for this site. It's taken me a long time to find it.

I teach 8th grade Pre-AP (Honors) English at Marshall Middle School. I have a master's degree in counseling. I lived in Houston a while, then married, then divorced. I've traveled a lot (Europe, Canada, Japan, all over states). I ran into my favorite teacher, Rosalie Halbouty, a few years ago and told her I was an English teacher because of her. She started crying. Can you imagine someone telling you that almost 40 years after you taught the person? Please add me to your list. I LOVE your website!! Thanks for doing this.

Fortunately, I have two wonderful sons, Jonathan and Peter, and a two year old grandson, Nathan. I am a Realtor and sell new homes in an adult community, The Plantation at Leesburg, located in Leesburg, Florida. FHS holds many fond memories for me.
Love living in Florida.

I just spent some very enjoyable time going through this site.It all seems like a dream about another life time.Gus,I went to California.I have not been back to Beaumont since my mother's funeral, about 25 years ago.I saw Sam Wilson, Haywood and a few others at that time.My house was another one Gus will remember as being like home to everyone, mainly because of my mother. We all swam, partied and played sports,etc.there.I have been in touch with Mike McCroskey, and he has been to California. We talked a lot about old times, mainly because Jimmy Ruggles had just died.I keep saying I will make a reunion or go back just to see people, but life gets busy...I got a BS in Biology from SMU, then my MD from UT Southwestern, with postgraduate training at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, followed by Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto, Ca.I have been practicing medicine for almost 27 years and have been married for the same amount of time. My daughter is 25,she gradu!
ated from U.of Calf Berkley in economics and is returning there for graduate school(MBA/MPH).My son is 23 and graduating from SFSU.I have done some skiing and some sailing, and I still do a lot of boating. Please e-mail me.I would like to hear from everyone. We were all very close, and I miss the good friends I had at FHS.The sports were the best, the beach, and hunting and fishing. The Pigstand, fast cars, good music, and great girls.

Returned to this area about 5 years ago. I teach at Henderson Middle School in China, TX, but live in Beaumont. Too many specail high school memories to name one. Looking forward to the next reunion. While attending French, I wished away every day until graduation. Now I wish I had them back to enjoy every minute. Since I am a teacher now, I have learned to appreciate the ones I had and how much they did for me.

How I loved FHS-Buffalo Belles, The French High Folk
Singers Plus One (carrying our tall stools out of school for performances
and loading them, guitars and kids in my mom's old Ford Fairlane 500),
Mr. Magee, Ms. Cunningham, The parties in the cafeteria, rainy bus
trips to out-of-town games, daydreaming in 6th period, Mrs. Flynn, eating
fritos and drinking cokes for lunch, blowing up the chemistry lab (at
least making some awful smells!), good friends who loved me in spite of
me!! Days we thought would never end, right? Mardi Gras, decorating and
cleaning the mess up! Singing with Paula Tew, Sherry Free and Hattie
Jo! Great crushes on guys who never saw me.I really hated PE! Flirting at
baseball games, Janis Gray rubbing my arthritic legs so I could do the
high kick! Those were the days guys!

This is a wonderful site and we appreciate your doing this for all of us Buffs! We have been married for 33 years and have one daughter and three grandchildren who are all in Lumberton. We have many fond memories of French High and our friends and terrific teachers. We would love to correspond with any of our friends or teachers who care to email us. Mike and I enjoyed our years at French High very much and I always felt as if we received an excellent education. Our teachers were very caring and exceptional.
Now I wish I could thank so many of them for the great job they did! We would like
to hear from any classmates by email if possible, or from any teachers who might be reading this!

Appreciate all the prayers this past year.
What a wonderful web page. Still remember my days at French. Loved the sports and fine teachers. I married the former Karen Knight, and we recently celebrated our 34th anniverary. Have enjoyed this website immensely. Am still facing a fight with cancer, but have a lot of support from family and friends. Glad to know there are still Buffalos alive and well out there and all over the world.
