    Comments: After getting an undergrad degree from Lamar I went on Active Duty with USAF. I was a Minuteman Launch Officer for 5 years and flew AWACS for 5 years. Got MBA from Univ. of Mont. Went to work for E-Systems out of AF. Then moved back to Beaumont area (Winnie) at my wifes prompting. Currently sell Municipal Pumps for Hahn Equipment of Houston. Jan and I have 5 children. The oldest will be 40 in Nov. and the youngest will be 18 in June. He graduates next week. My wife is a Pharmacist for the VA. We have 10 grandchildren with another on the way.     Comments: Great site. Just returned from the 40th (really the 41st because of Rita) class reunion. What a joy to be see so many of my classmates and to renew several old friendships. Thanks to all who helped to make it a success, especially,Gwen and Nancy, Kathryn and Linda. Have been married to the same wonderful man, Larry for 40 years this past August. We have two wonderful children and their spouses, Kevinand his wife Deborah,both 36 and Kerri and husband Ashley both 33. Have been blessed 4 times with grandchildren, Emily and Amy Pearson and Makenzie & Logan Brinkoeter. Still work at Humble High School as the assistant to the building principal where I have been for 19 years. So many fond memories as I read the entire web site. We are the parents of two great "kids", Trey 36 and Paige 34, and the grandparents of 4 wonderful grandsons-Blaine, 16, Billy, 15, Jesse, 13, and Jake, 11 and one precious granddaughter, Cassidee, almost 11. Charlie and I have wonderful memories of our time at French High. (Trey was in the last graduating class of French.) I have really enjoyed looking down memory lane. My favorite teacher at French was Mr. Burgess (orchestra and belles).

Left Beaumont again in 1987 for Austin, moved to Baltimore, MD in 1989, moved to Virginia Beach, VA in 2002 and back to Beaumont in 2004. I am getting a second Bachelors degree this time in Communication. I have done some film work and fell in love with film and broadcast.(Don't know what I'll do when I am 88) Married and divorced. Two daughters, 11 grandchildren (5 adopted, can't remember which ones). I go to Calvary Baptist Church and have a full and wonderful life.

    Comments: High School was the most fun I have had in my whole life. I have kept many of my high school friends. We had a group of us that hung out together. Not much boyfriend-girlfriend stuff, just friends with the group. It was so sad to graduate and move on. My favorite teacher was Mr. Ellis. I love photography class. I still have many of my high school friends now, we grew old together. We have shared getting married, having kids, graduations of kids, death of my daughter, grandkids. It has been a wonderful life. Now we are sharing retirement and getting ready for nursing homes. Thank you French High School for the memories.

We were married June 29,1973 and have been married for 28 years. We have three sons Brian 21, Kevin 19 and Kirk 16. We did not know each other while at French but met later at A party. I'am retired from the oilfield service work and we live near Athens, Texas in the country. Athens is about 75 miles Southeast of Dallas. Principal in 1993 and then Principal of Oak Forest Elementary in 1997. This is my 31st year as an educator. I have told my little students that I have now started school 47 years in a row. They just laugh and ask me if I'm really that old.

About the band director who was such an inspiration to his students? (Starting his career in the 1964-65 schoolyear!) Well, this FHS Band flute player has her own "Mr. & Mrs. Holland" right here in Longview! In 1994 my path crossed our Mr. Burgess's (J.W. Red Burgess) --caught a glimpse of his crooked teeth out of the corner of my eye! And his wife,FHS Librarian Mrs. Elwanda Burgess, is here with him this is their home town. Just when I was going through one of the hardest times of my life, there they were -- such an inspiration and example and encouragement just when God knew I most needed it! Still love music! Started back to playing the flute when Melissa started band -- love it even more now than then! (not that I'm particularly good at it).

    Comments: Hello to everyone: It is so hard to believe it has been 34 years since graduation. I moved to Houston when I was 21 and then to Hockley (40 miles N.W. of Houston) at age 30. I have worked at the Waller County Courthouse for 12 years and I have been the County Auditor for the past 4 years. There is never a dull moment in politics. I have two sons, Shane (30) and Britton(22), Shane is a Jr. High Coach at New Caney and Britton is an electrician. I guess that sums of 34 years pretty effectively. I worked for KUT-FM, the radio service of The Univeristy of Texas for several years, a few more years in the audio business and then, in 1979, I went into business for myself selling collectible movie posters.     Comments: Hello Friends! It is so great to see what a lot of you are doing these days. I now live in Cypress, TX with my husband David Edwards of eleven years. I have two wonderful sons Danny Van Nolan (24 years old) and Mark Van Nolan (22 years old). I also have a great stepson Michael Edwards (28 years old). Gosh, that all makes me seem a lot older than I feel. My husband and I both work for the Texas Department of Transportation in Houston. We have a Goldwing three wheel motorcycle that we spend a lot of our time on. When not traveling on the motorcycle, we are busy taking care of our four dogs, two cats and a lot of goldfish and koi in the pond in the back yard. I have a lot of fond memories of French High School and some really good friends that I have not been in touch with as much I would like. I still come to Beaumont often because of family there (including my brother Larry Huckabee and sister-in-law Nancy (Tinkle)Huckabee, both alumnis of French.     Comments: Mrs. Halbouty: what a piece of work! But did she ever teach me grammatical usage! I remember Jesse Allbritton leaping out of his seat in her class one day because he had dozed off sitting near the radiator and the heat made the little "rivets" on his jeans sizzling hot! You should have seen her face! Hysterical! And I will never forget the devastated faces of Bob McClure, Lloyd Longnion, Chuck O'Donnell and Pudgy Kosloski when we lost by one-point at Regionals in the basketball playoffs. Nor high-kicking on the Galveston Wall with Judy DeSpain, Mary Moore, and Brenda Allen during a Biology field trip with Mrs. Lanasa. Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end . . ..

I've seen very few of my classmates since graduation, haven't been to any reunions because of distance and the time of year they always seem to be scheduled. I would love to hear from some of my "old" friends from '65. I live in Los Angeles and am a Veterinary Registered Nurse. I work for a group of veterinary specialists (orthopedic surgeons, oncologists, neurologists, internists). I spend my days doing ultrasounds and endoscopy on dogs and cats. I'm very lucky to love my work so much. I have very fond memories of high school days. Can't believe it's been so long. Hope to make the Y2K reunion!

I have heard a lot of stories about high school being the worst time of some of my classmates lives.That's really a shame. Life is too short.     Comments: Hi, ya'll----this is great! I've wondered where some of my "old" classmates are these days. I married Franklin Dyer from Silsbee High School. We have a son that's 31 and a grandson that's, as he put it 7 and 1/2. I lived in Nashville, Tn. for about 18 years and was a songwriter for a time. I co-wrote "Everytime Two Fools Collide" recorded by Kenny Rogers & Dottie West. You might remember the movie that was made about Dottie, "Big Dreams Broken Hearts". Frank now works for Equistar Chemicals LP in Houston, and I don't have to work anymore. I love him and my life. Let me hear from some of you other FHS graduates.     Comments: Hello to all former French High Buffs, I left French High in '65, a class of distinction. Many great memories of events and people. Joined the Army in '66 and have only been back to visit since. None of my family live in the Beaumont area now, so I have been there but once in the last several years. Went to my 20 year reunion in '85. Those high school years were special, and the people were special also. It's nice to see this website and that French High hasn't been completely forgotten. In '65, I thought French High was as a monument to youth and education which would exist in perpetuity. The world could not exist without French High. I drove by during the period it was closed and it was a very quiet monument. Like Samuel Beckett said, "Nothing happens, nobody comes, nobody goes, it's awful." Hang on to the memories.     Comments: I am still on active duty with the Air Force. I am now a full Colonel (0-6) and will probably retire in 2009...maybe '10. I am the Command Nurse and Director of Education and Training for the Air Force Reserves and stationed at Air Force Reserve Headquarters at Robins AFB in Warner Robins, GA. Lyndon is a Police Lieutenant with the Fort Valley Police Department; a small town of 10,000 about 12 miles West of Warner Robins. He is the administrative officer and budget director for the department and the supply chief...among other duties. Hope all is going well with all our FHS Alumni. Maybe we will get to make a reunion in the near future.
    Really enjoyed looking through the old pictures and memories of FHS and Beaumont. After graduation in '61 I briefly attened TxA&M and Lamar before joining the USMC in Oct.'62. I somehow convinced another FHS student, Konnie M. Robbs, to marry me in 1963 and we've been together ever since. Still don't know why she puts up with me ? I subsequently joined the USArmy in 1970 and flew airplanes and helicopters for them until retiring in 1988. Konnie, if you can believe it, is on active duty with the USAF and is a Major and hospital commander here in Germany. She will retire in 2002. We will leave Germany in Jan '99 for Pope AFB at Fayetteville, NC. We are looking forward to the next reunion and renewing friendships with long lost friends.
