Comments: Just found this website. Becky Stephens, I had been told you had died. I'm glad to hear that news was premature. I am still married to Stanley Dzierlenga, class of '65--40 years now. We have two children, Scott (32) and Casey (26). I am a retired Spanish teacher. Mrs. Smith made a big impression on me. Stanley is still working for an environmental company here in Chapel Hill. We took a group of students to Spain last spring and this spring we plan to go white water rafting through the Grand Canyon. French High was a magical place. Not too many schools are like it these days.

Comments: I attended the reunion for the Class of 1966 last year and reconnected with lots of fellow classmates and would like to keep in touch. So, I paid to join classmates.com and am really disappointed in it. Hopefully, your site will provide a means for contacting and keeping in touch. I took a few photos at the reunion and wondered if there was a site where classmates share photos.

Our Roots are in Beaumont (whether we like it or not) and French High helped us become who we are. Those were wonderful years and the older I get, the wiser I become, the more I realize how important old friends are and how lucky I am to have such strong, healthly ROOTS. My life has been a mess. I married Don Black (Forest Park'65).a BEAST.disaster..divorce. Then I married Jerry Richardson, wonderful man, good life...I messed up big time, divorce. Then I married and moved to Denver....Denver great..marriage mistake, divorce. Now I'm married to a wonderful man from Missouri. We've been together for 11 years and I'm happier than I've ever been in my Life. We're looking forward to my retirement, at which time I will be traveling the US with him as he goes to his various nursing assignments...he's a traveling nurse. I have 3 grown sons and 4 grandchildren and I have my own bookkeeping business. I would love to see all the olds friends from French. Rosalie Halbouty..."don't cross your legs while you diagram a sentence" and ..."Procrastination is the thief of Time"...remember that? When is the next reunion? and where is Glen Rainwater?...what a GREAT guy! Carole Williams Black Richardson Houston Maley

Comments: My husband (Eddie Alexander – SPHS 65) and I live in a Trilogy retirement community (55 and older). This August, we will be married 36 years! We do not have children, but have a very full life. We are very active in our church in Fairfield, California and enjoy ministering to men and women there. I was a late bloomer and have recently acquired my Associates Degree in Biblical Studies. Currently, I am working toward my Bachelors Degree and will probably go for my Masters. I’m learning so much (why is it so much easier now?) and don’t want to stop! In January 2006, my husband and I went on a Missions trip to the Philippines and there were probably close to 500 young people who gave their hearts to the Lord for the first time! People are so hungry for God over there! It’s wonderful to find this great website! Thank you for all of your hard work in putting it together!

Comments: 40th reunion coming soon and I won't miss it! I hope to see a lot of my friends from those young days in the shadow of the war in Vietnam. Ours was a time that history now records as a time of massive change in the US and parts of the world. The liberation of our spirit in someways, the coming of the "pill", war protests, Moon landings and the long descent into too much drug, sex and rock-'n-roll. It was different things to different people, but sure wasn't boring, was it? A law practice, marriage, and two great kids later, I don't think I'm much different than the Allen King some of you knew 40 years ago and I bet the same is true of many of you. I hope to find out at the reunion. Thanks to all that are involved in planning it.

One daughter is in Arlington and my eldest daughter lives in Houston. Family functions bring me to or through Beaumont rarely. I'm always surprised at the changes. Disability because of spinal disease keeps me home but not homebound. Committment and love for my church family keeps me busy and happy. Mrs. Halbouty was my least favorite and most difficult teacher but I learned more things from her that I still remember and use in my daily life. My favorite teacher was Mrs. Lanasa. One of my physical limitations is keyboarding, therefore, I probably won't communicate often, although I really love your sight. Thanks for your time, energy and effort in making it available to us.

I do have fond memories of Marjorie Cunningham and Ms. "Granny" Havens (Bowie?)--English teachers. Encouraged me to write. I still do. I remember hanging with Janis, Suzanne, Sally, Kathy Lou, Darlene, and "the guys" at Coffee Shops and Pig Stands--cruising 11th Street. (Have many Randy W. prints on my walls as reminders). I married George Raymond Wilson the week after I graduated--divorced 9 years and 2 sons later. He's still in Beaumont. Our son, Don (31), has recently moved back to Texas and works with George at TIPCO. Earlier memories include the skating rink, Midnight Shows and The Fair. Then of course there were those trips to the beach--and Louisiana that Maribeth talks about. . . . I'm a late bloomer. I went back to shool in my 30s and have been going off and on ever since. For those of you who knew me then you might be surprised to learn that I will start a PhD program in Depth Psych. in the Fall--WHO KNEW?? I have 3 sons (30, 31--mine) & 16 (ours), 3 step-daughters (his) and 6 grandkids. I work with families and individuals recovering from child sexual abuse. Of course, nothing like that ever happens in Texas. Husband, Vernon, is a systems analyst with Portland General Electric Co. We've been married for 21 years. Enjoying country living on 5 acres with a view of Mount Hood. If you ever get to Oregon, look us up--it's a Garden of Eden. This is far more than anyone would ever want to know. I got started strolling down memory lane and couldn't quit. If I knew then what I know now--I'd probably do the same things all over. Thanks for the memories. SS

Comments: I have been married to Ronnie Page for almost 32 years. We have two children and 2 perfect grandchildren. I have been teaching high school mathematics for 28 years and am looking forward to retirement in a few years. Ronnie is technology coordinator in the small school we both work for. We are active in our church and enjoy family and friends. I had two favorite classes, math(obviously)with Bob Meynig, and Spanish with Zulma Smith. I remember Mr. Meynig used to raise chinchillas, and his children usually came to "help" give out report cards at the end of the year. He also had one question on every test - "Spell TRIGONOMETRY" - and believe it or not, one guy ALWAYS missed it! Mrs. Smith used to make us sing in class - she taught us many Spanish songs, and played the piano for us to sing. I'll never forget the day we had a student teacher and sang for her. She was horrified to find that we had learned the bar-room version of "La Cucaracha", and wouldn't let us sing it again! I will always be grateful to the many teachers at FHS who devoted their time and efforts into providing us with quality education. It has made a HUGE difference in my life!

Comments: Hi, I moved from Texas to Alaska about 10 years ago and love it here. This is great to have a way to get in touch with other classmates. I worked for Texaco in Houston for years and "retired" when we moved to Alaska. Now I do all kinds of crafts and try to keep up with the kids and grandkids that are all in Texas. The e-mail is a great tool for keeping in touch. Keep us all posted on any new news! Barbara

Comments: Hi, everyone! Has it been that long since I graduated in '66? Where did the time go? I married Ronnie Scarborough (Kelly HS '65) 31 years ago this Dec. '98. We have 2 grown married daughters, Carrie, 29, Stacie, 26 and 1 teenage daughter, Marcie, 16. We moved to Silsbee in 1973. My husband and I have been in business for most of our married lives. We have been very fortunate over the years. I decided to go to college at the age of 40; graduated from Lamar University in Dec. '93 at the age of 45 with my certification in Reading and English; I am into my 6th year of teaching (Texas History) at Silsbee Middle School and loving every minute of it. Don't let anyone tell you you're to old to start a new career. As I read the FHS graduates messages, I can only admire the wonderful citizens the principals and teachers turned us into while we were attending high school.....not half bad. You should all be very proud of yourselves. The mold was broken when French closed it's doors for the last time. Thanks, Maribeth, for setting this site up for us to share with each other.

Cruising 11th Street & Skateland Roller Rink are among my fondest memories of that time. Please visit my web site. I'm very big into photography, it has many pretty pictures although something happened & a couple disappeared. As soon as AOL gets it's web page editor up on the new version I'll fix it. Thanks for the shout.

Comments: Hi, Maribeth. My brother, Gary (French High, 1965), told me about the site. ...very nice work. Impressive. I did not make either my 25th or 30th year reunion, but maybe I'll still be around for the 35th. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I live on a small ranch about 30 miles south of Austin. ...single, no kids. I am an engineer and the director of software programs in a semiconductor industry consortium. I have also worked for Texas Instruments, Mead Paper, and SEMATECH. I started and ran my own engineering company back in the mid-80's for about 5 years, but got really tired of the travel, so I chucked it for paid employment so I could stay closer to home. The "glamour" wore thin after five years. I still have my hair and my teeth, but I'm thinking I have somebody else's belly. Memories of French High days..., humm-m -- Wave experiments using giant Slinkies in Mr. Slater's physics class. -- Mr. Burgess, band director, good guy. -- Coach Kilpatrick, what a basketball coach! -- Mr. Rogers' chemistry class, what an Aggie! -- Mrs. Cunningham's English class up in some kind of loft above the front porch.-- Mr. Doyle, Latin class, man was I lost. -- Where I was (exactly) when I heard Kennedy was shot. -- Too many friends to name -- good people. I miss a lot of those folks. Keep up the great work. I really understand how much effort it takes to build and maintain a web site like this one. Like I said, ...impressive. Cheers.
